System Six

This live recording was taken from ARC’s performance at the E Live festival in Holland in 2007, but since it was one of my own solo tracks from way back it seemed more appropriate to include it on a solo album.
Ian Boddy played the chords, harmonies and sound effects throughout the piece while I had all the fun with the lead lines.
This track was an encore, which we actually played twice. As a result the final and rather wild lead line was created from the best parts of the two versions, or more accurately, the parts with the least mistakes.

Storm Column and Assassin

Again, two more versions of my solo tracks but this time played at the end of Redshift’s Hampshire Jam performance in 2008. We decided to include these partly as a response to a request from the concert organiser (Steve Jenkins on his last HJ bash) and partly just for fun since the bands’ set was to be shorter than normal.
Storm Column was the last piece of the main set and, once again, Ian Boddy is handling the main chords while Julian Shreeve is playing the “verse” lead lines and also extra chords during the other sections. I play all the other lead lines, fixed melodies as well as the “looser” end section.
On Assassin (which was the encore) Ian plays the string chords and Julian plays the harmony lines while I take on the main themes and rather excessive lead line right at the end. There are some obvious mistakes here and there but hopefully the excitement is retained.
