Delve's self-titled sophomore LP "掘" is a melted, dreamy collage of ambient synth and harsh noise. The album marks a significant step forward from his acclaimed (and sold-out) debut LP "Headspace" in both ambition and execution. "掘" finds Delve exploring long-form compositions, often passing the ten-minute mark as they abruptly warp and shatter, gradually twisting into unrecognizable forms. "Mannerism" is Delve at his most abrasive and chaotic - massive layers of glitched-out, harsh noise obfuscate claustrophobic drum hits as the track stutters like a malfunctioning machine attempting to course-correct itself. "Last Caroline" expands like a slow breath of cold air while complex drumming swells underneath a blanket of whirling synth pads. From front-to-back, "掘" is an journey equally abrasive and ethereal - and a worthy addition to the ever-expanding BLUD catalogue of hypnagogic synth.
