"This recording features music and oral narratives by four traditional instrument makers from Watauga County, North Carolina. Tedra Harmon, Stanley Hicks, Leonard and Clifford Glenn are all neighbors and friends, they all play music and they all make banjos and dulcimers according to the skills and patterns passed along through the years by relatives and neighbors....This recording is the result of many months of effort by the Foxfire students and Rabun County High School in rural north Georgia. Students first interviewed Stanley, Tedra and Leonard for a special publication on instrument makers in the 1974 issue of Foxfire magazine. The material was later included in Foxfire 3, published by Doubleday / Anchor Press in 1975. The students, curious about the music that came from these homemade instruments, made another visit to the homes of these craftsmen and made the field recordings featured here. The cover, design, layout, editing, mixing, and other production work was all done by high school students in the Foxfire record production class." FOXFIRE original LP record.
