Tracks 3-09 & 5-11 previously unreleased

Sessions recorded for the Japanese label Atlas Records, with Art Pepper as a nominal sideman. Titles of original records given in index tracks.

According to Laurie Pepper's liner notes, Art Pepper was only nominally a sideman on these recordings. "Art was in fact always the leader on these Atlas albums. He chose the bands, okayed the cuts, and was paid more than any other artist even though his name and photo could be no bigger on the album cover than anybody else's." See page 12 of the booklet accompanying this release.
