Side one is spoken word stories by Esther James, who was a widower & 60 something grandmother, who NY House of Representative member Adam Clayton Powell accused on a local television program of being a "bag woman" for Italian numbers runners - against whom he was campaigning because he argued that blacks, not Italians, should control the numbers in Harlem. James sues Powell for slander and libel and won a judgement against him in the amount of $211,500. Eventually the sum was reduced to $46,000 but Powell refused to pay and evaded his obligation from nearly seven years.

Side two consists of Calypso songs about Esther James and the corruption of Adam Clayton Powell. These tracks are performed by Lord Faith and the James Men.
