Welcome to CD four of the Dance Years. 1991 saw the launch of the UK's first "superclub" Ministry of Sound in south London, based on the legendary Paradise Garage in New York which was home to resident DJ and producer Larry Levan.

Those of us who had visited the Paradise Garage were always a bit sceptical that this was going to ever work, but not only did the Ministry flourish, it also launched the record labels and even a magazine over the years.

Kiss continued to grow and soon had over a million listeners. DJs were allowed to bring in their own records from home to play alongside the Kiss playlist. This provided a unique platform for up and coming producers and acts to get their music heard which was largely being ignored by Radio 1 and the rest of radio. I started promoting raves at the Astoria in London with Kiss. I'd DJ alongside Steve Jackson and artists like The Prodigy and Shades of Rhythm. The queues went all the way round Soho Square!

There were so many great records from labels like R@S Records in Belgium with Human Resource 'Dominator' through to UK artists like SL2, The Prodigy and Altern 8 - rave had arrived big time. Another one of my favourite years in dance.
